Meet Vanessa
After receiving an injury playing softball, Vanessa Stratigakes, like so many others with sports injuries, found herself in need of rehabilitation. During her recovery, she received multiple bouts of treatment from both athletic trainers and physical therapists. For Vanessa, these interactions highlighted not only a unique medical profession but also a new course for her life. The ability to build a relationship between patient and therapist that comes from multiple treatments, as well as the satisfaction that comes from helping to return someone to something they love, can be truly life-changing, and for Vanessa, it was. Earning a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Fresno State, Vanessa went on to pursue and complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2014. After graduation, Vanessa sought employment with Burger Physical Therapy, citing the family-owned atmosphere and inspiration of Carol Burger as a businesswoman, as the main reasons behind her choice.
Vanessa specializes in vestibular therapy for the treatment of balance and dizziness disorders, orthopedic pathologies including sports injuries, joint replacements, post-operative and joint dysfunctions, as well as a variety of manual therapy techniques including joint mobilizations, therapeutic exercise, kinesiology tape, and sport-specific exercises. Vanessa has taken continuing education courses in vestibular rehabilitation, cervical pathologies, sports injuries, shoulder pathologies, and lumbar spine mobilizations, and is Graston certified.
When not working, Vanessa prefers to spend her time paddleboarding, hiking, snowshoeing, and hanging out with her husband and their dogs.
