Meet Heidi

Originally hailing from the state of Alaska, Heidi Langan developed an interest in how the body works and a desire to stay active in her life. This developed not only into a recipe for self-care but also a desire to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle across all ages. Heidi moved to California to complete her Masters of Science in physical therapy at California State University Sacramento and graduated in December of 2009. Heidi was initially interested in working for Burger due to Burger being the “whole unit.” The multiple specialties and settings within the company, ranging from pediatrics to skilled nursing and elder care intrigued her.

This holistic therapy experience that Burger offers its patients led Heidi to join Burger’s Team in February of 2010. Her early years with the company (2010 – 2012) saw Heidi working a split schedule between the Pediatrics clinic as well as Burger’s Folsom Outpatient clinic. This experience led her to develop skills in both orthopedic and neurological patients. This experience served her well and Heidi was promoted to the clinic director of pediatrics in 2012 when she realized her passion for the pediatric population. This is when she started working solely with children of all ages and disabilities.

Heidi’s education didn’t stop when she joined Burger and her multiple pediatric-specific continuing education courses have furthered her knowledge in this specialty.

These courses include but are not limited to Developing Gait in Children with Cerebral Palsy and Neuromotor Disorders, Anticipatory Postural Control in Children with Typical Development, and Cerebral Palsy, Pediatric Motor Control, Orthotic Considerations for the Neurological Client, Torticollis, Plagiocephaly, and idiopathic toe walking. She is Graston certified and has taken multiple courses on kinesiology taping. Heidi is also a certified Thera Togs fitter – Level 1.

She keeps current and up to date by attending continuing education courses several times a year.

Heidi’s pediatric physical therapy interests include neurological and developmental diagnoses. She can and has treated patients from the ages of 3 weeks to 21 years of age. Having two children of her own, Heidi can relate to the parents of her patients and empathize with their concerns.

Heidi hasn’t forgotten her Alaskan roots and her interests include taking time to get out and enjoy nature. She also enjoys spending time with family, being involved with her church, and basketball.
